More services now for special needs children

Letter, May 12.

Minister of Children and Youth Services Marie Bountrogianni claims, "... there are more services for children with special needs today than there were a year ago ..." and that, "The solution to the problem lies in making more services available to families of children with special needs so that they can access the supports they need in their communities."
This would be great news if these vital education services actually made it into my son's public school classroom, where special needs students like my boy value them the most.
But why is the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board allowed to erect "policy" barriers like the requirement that my son, who has cerebral palsy and needs speech and language pathology education services, somehow "learn" to say at least six words in a sentence before these vital services are delivered to him in the classroom?
